Inspired by Christmas Cookies

Who loves to bake? Who loves to bake during the holidays especially? Me too!

Most of our family recipes are filled with butter, flour, and sugar. Does it get any “butter”? 😆 I’ve been known to eat butter off the stick and sugar off the spoon.

But now the darn flu and winter season is blowing in, so I think what can our family bake that would also be nutritious?

I searched online for nutrient rich foods to stay healthy. Let me warn you. You will not be excited, my patissier friends.

Garlic

Salmon and shellfish

Potatoes and tomatoes and mushrooms

Spinach and kale

Broccoli and cauliflower

Brussel sprouts and asparagus

Peas and lentils

Almonds (possibility)

Blueberries and more berries (we can adjust)

Egg yolks (of course)

And yes, we CAN bake with nuts and berries and eggs. Are your usual ingredients also oatmeal and zucchini? You’re my baking hero 🤩

But I can’t do it! 😳

How about let’s cook with those ingredients. Thus allowing us to be FREE in our baking. It’s all about balance. Right?

And then share what we bake, so we don’t eat it all 😝 (the best time is warm out of the oven anyways) Make sure you have milk. And then pack much of it up in containers right away to give away. Whew!

So, we have a plan to stay healthy, and happy, during the holidays and all winter long. Wishing you a sweet and cozy Christmas season 🍒🫐🥚❤️💚
