Flip Flop Season

It’s July! Are you wearing your flip flops these days? If yes, life is good.

Yet life can feel flip flopped. I don’t always recognize the world or the United States of America lately. It seems the shoe doesn’t fit like it used to.

Or, what we once knew went up in smoke. Deals negotiated for citizens to pay. Agendas lurk in the cornerstones of society. People as pawns to fight each other. Let’s not take the bait.

On this July 4th weekend, here are 4 quotes about what it means to be an American living in the UNITED States!

❤️“America has never been united by blood or birth or soil. We are bound by ideals that move us beyond our backgrounds, lift us above our interests, and teach us what it means to be citizens.” – George W. Bush

💙“What is the essence of America? The essence of America is finding and maintaining  that perfect, delicate balance between freedom “to” and freedom “from.” – Marilyn vos Savant

❤️“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.” – Abraham Lincoln

💙“Then join hand in hand, brave Americans all! By uniting we stand, by dividing we fall.” – John Dickinson

Let’s never take for granted our freedoms, or those who fight and fought for them.  In Ronald Reagan’s words,  “I’m convinced that today the majority of Americans want what those first Americans wanted: A better life for themselves and their children; a minimum of government authority.”

Happy 246th Birthday, USA!
