Back To School

Who remembers the nervous feeling of the first day of school?

It happened at least 13 times with 1 year of kindergarten, 8 years of elementary, and 4 years of high school. It’s happening to our kids and grandkids now.

I remember one strong feeling. It was an impulse to hit the reset button both mentally and physically.  It was a time to create a new me with new teachers, classrooms, friends, and experiences.

This is a back to school message for all ages. These forced restarts of our youth can be wise to remember for us older, mature people. Never be afraid of change and to recreate ourselves. It may be the best thing we can do to stay young and feel alive.

How can we do this?

Approach life with faith. Train an open mind. Be willing to try new things and experiences. Nurture a vulnerable heart. Reach out to others with love and make a positive difference.

As I send my daughter off to school again, the school year blows in like a windchime. It is bittersweet.

This song resonates with my love for my children, now and always. It’s a song for children everywhere and all of us as children of God.
