Could You Share One Phone Line?

Who remembers The Brady Bunch? If you’re a 1960’s or 1970’s child, you had no choice. There were only 10 TV channels, right? The show aired on television from 1969 to 1974, but we lived on those reruns for the entire decade.

I share an episode about the home telephone. You have to watch it! It’ll take you back to the days of one telephone line in the house 😨

In this Brady Bunch episode, you’ll get to hear the sound of a ringing house phone, listen to family members call across the house that they have a phone call, and eavesdrop on the Brady kid conversations. It will take you back.

Sharing one phone line meant being asked to end your calls early and fast with no privacy and lots of feuds over phone time. How about the dreaded busy signal? How about the cost? Telephone companies charged per call based on location and time of day and day of the week.

These were truly the days that taught us so much about cooperation and sharing.
